Seen Through is a cycle of 5 art songs based on text by Dorothy Meiburg. The unifying theme is the experience of looking at something, or someone, through a mediating presence. This abstract starting point took root and manifested itself through the refinement of the text and the music as the emotional quality and first-hand experience of seeing without touching. The form of the piece, on both a small and large scale, owes a great deal to the text.
